How can Ticketmaster be selling "premium" seats for $136.50 and $176.50?

Premium is special- if you want to be that close it has to cost more.
Just buy the regular seats.

Actually, Cal, the tickets that are being sold as premium are just as close as non-premium. They're just including the beverage service and (in order to avoid disrupting an entire ROW of seats) on the outer edges of the orchestra sections (center, left and right).

FYI...I won't be surprised if the closest tickets of all turn out to be the cheapest. emoticon

I wouldnt be surprised either... lots of shows make the front row the lottery/rush seats because regular ticket buyers dont like straining their necks & compensating for the height of the stage.

Guess your explanation of the premium tickets answers the question repeatedly asked on BWW about in-seat drinking.

Most theaters sell premium tickets- most are not much better then any other seats. Some people need to have to best of everything and will pay more to be special.

Well thats not the only bonus to premium seats, since theyre so expensive theyre usually still available close to the date of the show, which is nice for people with busy schedules flying all over the country and so forth- business men who want to woo a client with the newest hard to get ticket for example. In this case I guess waiter service is also a bonus for the extra bucks.

Those tickets are also the kind of tickets they can then revert back to regular full price tickets just before show time to sell to the cancelation line if theyve gone untaken.

I like being 3rd, 4th, or 5th row......and I have to disrupt and entire row....so be it. I paid to be there just like everyone else! But in my defense, I don't move unless it is intermission emoticon

Is there a possibility that D-listers like me (no connections at all.. haha) can get a ticket to the show on opening night ? Will any empty seats be sold at the final hour?

Also, can you describe how the 'red carpet'- assuming there is one- will be set up? There isn't a lot of room outside the BAT, as I recall. iei- will it be possible to get close enough to shoot a few pics?

Thnx...

Hi Judy,

As I believe I explained on another forum earlier this week...as of right now, tickets are not available to the public for opening night on April 7th but that could change, based on the production's needs for tickets.

Given that it would be last minute, there is therefore no timeline for any tickets being released to the public.

As for the red carpet and ability to take photos, it may indeed be limited due to the narrow sidewalk and very small lobby of the Brooks Atkinson. Depending on the number of press covering the event (who will be given priority locations on the red carpet), fans may be relegated to areas either at the far ends of the front of the theater or even across 47th street.

But this is all speculation on my part, as I am not an employee of the show, but have been both an attendee of opening nights in the past as well as been one of those folks "at the barricade" (as they might say in Les Miserables LOL)

Good luck!

Lizzy

Thanks, Lizzy,
It's hard to be patient since Wednesday will be dark, so 2 days in nyc and no ROA... oh la la.
I've seen conflicting schedules for weekend ticket sales, btw. I assume there are two shows on both sat and sunday... Otherwise, there are only (haha) 7 shows a week??
